A guide to our hot air balloon rides take off sites

From lordly halls and private lakes, to hearty pubs and rambling racecourses, there is an abundance of outstanding sites to launch hot air balloons up and down the country. Read on for an overview of our ideal areas to fly from, and you might just find there’s flight near you.

Launch from Cheshire and Shropshire

Our hot air balloon rides in these counties launch from specially selected private venues. The Crocky Trail near Chester offers spectacular views of the Roman city and is just a 45-minute car ride from Manchester or Liverpool. In Nantwich and Crewe, we lift off from The Boar’s Head pub, a perfect spot for a pre-flight bite with a beer. Lastly, in Whitchurch and Shropshire, we launch from the stunning Alderford Lake with facilities and refreshments for family and friends not taking part in the flight.

Hot air balloon rides in Derbyshire and The Peak District

Three excellent launch sites are situated here. The riverside launch point at Rowsley is located close to the charming Chatsworth House, and nearby is Tissington Hall – another of our venues – where we take off from Sir Richard Fitzherbert’s land. Clover Fields Caravan Park, finally, is found easily from Buxton.

See Norfolk and Suffolk by balloon

Our Norfolk flights launch from Norwich, perfect for a city adventure with plenty of sights to see. In Suffolk, we lift off at the Oaksmere Hotel, where you can appreciate its famous bar and restaurant and timeless Tudor charm.

Flights over Worcestershire and Herefordshire

Rise from the racecourse in Worcester, or launch from our secluded site in Deer Park in the grounds of the enchanting Eastnor Castle. Our Top Barn farm site, north of Worcester, has a farm shop to visit and outdoor activities to enjoy, including canoeing and archery.

Warwickshire and Gloucester hot air balloon flights

Our flights here in the heart of England have many locations for lift off. We launch right from Stratford-upon-Avon Race course, and to the south we employ another site at Warwick School. Into the Cotswolds we fly from the Fires Service College near Moreton-in-Marsh surrounded by the majestic Cotswold Hills. Over in Evesham we have two different venues, Crown Meadow for a riverside take off and the magnificent Wood Norton Hotel and Restaurant.

Fly from Staffordshire and The Potteries

Home of Lord Lichfield, Shugborough Hall is a tranquil spot for launching set amid 1,000 acres of verdant parkland. You can visit shops and the restored Italianate Gardens at our venue on the Trentham Estate, or watch the boats drift by with a bistro dinner at our newest launch venue at the Aston Marina near Stone.

Wherever you’re flying from in the UK there are a host of exceptional launch sites for hot air balloon rides, but wherever your flight begins you’re sure to enjoy an amazing experience. Always bear in mind that launch sites for your flight are picked for safety and ideal flying conditions to ensure you benefit from the best balloon ride possible.
