Bristol Balloon Fiesta ready for launch this weekend
This weekend will see the 40th Bristol Balloon Fiesta at Ashton Court Estate. This year, over 130 hot air balloons will be attending to celebrate this special anniversary.
In addition to the usual hot air balloon ascents, which this year will include a birthday cake balloon, visitors will also be able to enjoy trade stands, fairground rides, and other entertainment. There will also be a model hot air balloon competition, with the lucky winner getting the chance to take a real hot air balloon ride.
Two nightglow events will take place on Thursday 9th and Saturday 11th August from 9pm. Some 25 balloons will illuminate the night sky accompanied by a commissioned soundtrack, with each display being concluded with a firework display.
For the first time in the event’s history, visitors will have the option of camping in the grounds of Ashton Court Estate, which will be invaluable for those looking to enjoy as much of the event as possible. The pitches, which can be booked through the official website, have no electricity, but cafe, shower, and toilet facilities will be provided. There are also a limited number of spaces for motorhomes.
For other visitors, entry to the festival itself is free, but there are fees for parking. You can guarantee your parking place by booking it through the official website. Premium parking is also available, which offers closer proximity to the venue and includes an official programme. A disabled car park is also provided for blue badge holders (limited spaces, booking still required).
