Kids invited to ballooning workshop

September 4th, 2017

Children aged 8 to 11 are invited to participate in a Discovery Workshop at this year’s Huff ‘n’ Puff Air Balloon Rally in Kansas, USA.

Budding pilots will get the enviable chance of experiencing hot air ballooning first-hand, including the opportunity of being part of the crew on flights taking off on the Saturday evening, or first thing on the Sunday morning.

Each child will get the chance to learn the skills needed control a balloon, receive a T-shirt, and all the supplies to make this a workshop to remember for years to come. The event is a must for all youngsters fascinated and intrigued by the magical awe of hot air balloons floating in skies.

It all takes-off on the second day of the Rally, Saturday 9th September 2017, between 10am and 12 noon, at Reynolds Lodge, Lake Shawnee, Topeka, Kansas.

The event opens the day before, on Friday 8th September and will run for the entire weekend. This year’s event is the 42nd Annual Huff ‘n’ Puff Rally and it continues to be free to the public, designed to promote and share the excitement of hot air ballooning.

Seasoned pilot Joel Sturdevant is looking forward to the gathering, saying that he finds every flight a unique experience, each with its own challenges, but nevertheless, still breathtaking. He continued to add:

“It’s a great sport, and it’s a great group of people.”

Each day, there will be flights, balloon glows and tethering alongside ballet and gymnastic performances on the Saturday afternoon to keep visitors and spectators suitably entertained.
